Fire breaks out at Chinese Grand Prix as Lewis Hamilton hits new low | F1 | Sport

Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll sprung a surprise as he topped the pace in the first practice session at the Chinese Grand Prix. The Aston Martin man finished ahead of McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen lying third.

But it was another harrowing session for Lewis Hamilton, who was way down 18th, a place behind team-mate George Russell as the Silver Arrows continue to struggle. But the session was also halted prematurely in bizarre circumstances.

F1 has returned to Shanghai for the first time since 2019. And later today qualifying till take place for the controversial sprint race.
